Double-homicide suspect found nude and unresponsive in Westside hotel

Considered one of Tennessee’s most wanted fugitives- and caught in Jacksonville.

We first told you Tuesday morning that 39-year-old Bryan Cooke was caught in a Westside hotel. Cooke was wanted out of Tennessee for the death of his two in-laws.

The arrest and incident reports we’ve obtained show Cooke arrived at the Hampton Inn on Chaffee Point Boulevard in the early morning hours, claiming he didn’t have an ID and was in pain because of a knee problem. He asked the clerk- who also happened to be a JSO dispatcher- for help and paid with a “wad” of cash. The clerk noted several other suspicious behaviors, according to the reports, and eventually Cooke called 911himself.

When the clerk went to check on him, she couldn’t get in the room and only heard moaning inside. First responders had to open the dead bolt and lock chain and then navigate around several pieces of furniture which had been pushed against the door in order to reach Cooke.

The reports say Cooke was “lying on the bed completely nude, breathing but not responsive.” The cash was reportedly on the bed next to him and his clothes were soaking on the bathroom floor.

Cooke was taken to the hospital, but JSO does not indicate what was ultimately wrong with him. Following a brief stay, he was booked in to the Duval County Jail for the out-of-county charges.
