Jacksonville, FL —

The Mayor has officially authorized the Downtown Investment Authority, bring in what he says will be a “new era for Downtown Jacksonville.”

The DIA was unanimously backed by the City Council.  It is designed to help economic development efforts, specifically in downtown, and unlock the potential he sees in the area.

In a statement released by Mayor Alvin Brown, he says a vibrant downtown Jacksonville will “boost property values, increasing owners’ equity while simultaneously helping to naturally ease the city’s fiscal challenges.”  He hopes this will bring long term jobs in to the city.

And, of course, he expects it will help take Jacksonville to the next level.
