Jacksonville, FL —
On Monday afternoon an F-15 fighter jet had to make an unscheduled landing at Jacksonville International Airport because of mechanical problems.
Debbie Jones with JIA says the jet flew out of the airport earlier today but was brought back in after the pilot reported mechanical malfunctions. Still no word as to what went wrong but the jet did make a safe landing.
The Florida International Guard operates out of JIA and Jones says planes usually fly out of their daily. As for this plane in particular she says, "The pilot landed safely and there was no damage of any kind."
Jones says, "Operations are normal, the passengers that are here shouldn't experience any delays." Some people at the airport did get to see the plane land on the runway but crews moved the plane out of the way rather quickly. Emergency responders were not needed.
She says people at the airport may have watched the plane arrive
