The Florida Highway Patrol is investigating a car they found submerged in the St. Johns River last night near the Shands Bridge.
FHP hauled the 2004 Chevrolet Monte Carlo out of the river and found a concrete block on the gas pedal. That led investigators to believe that the car was put in the water on purpose. Police have not confirmed whether or not the car was indeed stolen.
The car's owners were found at their home in Duval county and were not with the vehicle at the time it went in the water.
