Local fire stations will stay open in Jacksonville.
Jacksonville's Finance committee approved 12.6 million dollars to be allocated to the fire and rescue budget. The fire chief says no fire stations will be shut down with the money and that overall he's pleased.
The Department is making whatever savings it can by leaving many currently unfilled positions vacant. However, the fire chief tells council that even with this money he is concerned about their overtime budget.
