First Lady Michelle Obama stopping here in Jacksonville to greet a group of girl scouts and culinary students from the Frank H. Peterson Academies of Technology High School.
Some of the high school students won a national healthy cooking contest, “Cooking up Change,” was sponsored by the Healthy Schools Campaign and hosted by the Department of Agriculture.
Obama, who is the Honorary National President of the Girl Scouts, shook hands with the students and scouts as she made her way from Naval Air Station Jacksonville to a luncheon downtown for the Democratic National Committee.
She did not speak to the media but did talk to each of the kids. Afterwards most of them said this was an experience they will not forget. The culinary students said Obama joked with them and asked where they planned on going after high school so she could call some of them up for a good meal.
Jacksonville was one of several stops on Thursday, Obama also expected to touch down in Tampa and Ft. Lauderdale.
