FL District 1 special election date set

Jacksonville, FL —

Governor Rick Scott has set the special election dates for the currently vacant District 1 seat in the Florida House of Representatives.

The special primary will be held September 20, and the special general election will be on October 18.

It was formerly held by Tony Hill, who stepped down earlier this month to take a newly created job as Jacksonville's director of federal policy.  The position was created by newly-elected mayor Alvin Brown.

So far, former democratic state representatives Audrey Gibson and Terry Fields have announced plans to run.
