Florida's winner-take-all GOP primary challenged

By Andrew Greenstein

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. —

A GOP primary win in Florida would currently net the winner all 50 delegates.

When the state announced its January 31st date, they lost 49 delegates, so officials decided to make the contest a winner-take-all affair.

That could change considering the party rules state all January primaries have to split delegates.

Originally, they didn't plan on enforcing that, but the Tampa Tribune reports a party activist has filed a protest, and now a decision could be handed down by mid-January.

That would award some delegates to the second and third place finishers -- making Florida a smaller prize for the winner.
