Former teacher pleads guilty to having sex with student

Jacksonville, FL —

Kristina Hartless used to teach 5th grade at Beauclerc Elementary School.  Now, after her prison sentence is up, she'll be a registered sex offender.

The 40-year-old was sentenced to 13 months in jail on Thursday for several counts of sexual battery with a minor.

In addition to being an elementary school teacher, Hartless was also a mother of three and a church counselor.

Thousands of text messages and facebook chats that were secretly exchanged for months were revealed in court, detailing Hartless' relationship with a teenage student.

The teen's mother notified authorities of the relationship when she found out.

She'll have to do 5 months probation when she's released, before being required to register as a sex offender.
