Gas prices going back up

By Kevin Rincon

Jacksonville, FL —

The past couple of week’s oil prices were going down but the unrest in Libya and the Middle East caused prices to go up.  Last week alone oil went up $4.33.  On Friday oil closed at $105.40 a barrel.

Oil going up of course affects the price of gasoline.  Nationally and in the state of Florida the average price of unleaded regular is $3.57 per gallon, according to AAA.  It went up 3 cents in a week.

Jacksonville gas prices are lower than the national average.  As of this morning the average across the First Coast is at $3.51, that’s according to JacksonvilleGasPrices.com.  They’re reporting some prices at $3.42, those being the cheapest prices around, the most expensive gas stations are charging $3.69.

We’re up close to 20 cents from a month ago and prices according to AAA are showing no signs of letting up.
