Glynn County Commissioner found dead, police call it homicide

By Roxy Tyler

Jacksonville, FL —

Police in Georgia are investigating the death of Glynn County Commissioner Tom Sublett as a homicide.

Sublett's body was found floating at a marina on St. Simons Island.   Sublett was with friends last night.  His body was found around 6am today.

"We know what happened.  And we're back tracking to figure out we know where he was at and who he was with", said Police Chief Matt Doering at a morning news conference.

Our news partner Channel 4 reports Sublett's wallet was found but some items were missing.  Police do not have a suspect in custody.

Sublett had served on the Glynn County Commission since 2008 and was leaving office at the end of this month, having decided not to seek re-election.

He was a resident of St. Simons Island and a former chairman of the Brunswick-Golden Isles Chamber of Commerce.
