New since Jacksonville's Morning News, the man who shot at police last night at Atlantic and Kernan is no longer on the run.
We will learn more about the apparent arrest, and how the whole event unfolded, during a 2pm news conference today.
Around 10pm Wednesday someone was shot at Beach and San Pablo. Police later spotted the suspect vehicle ten minutes later and pursued it to an apartment complex at Atlantic and Kernan.
Melissa Bujeda with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says it was there where the gunman shot at police.
"The suspect vehicle pulled in, and there was an exchange of gunfire between the suspect and police, and the suspect fled on foot," Bujeda says.
No officers were hit in the gunfire.
The victim in the initial shooting, meanwhile, is fighting for his life.
"The individual who was shot at Beach and San Pablo has been transported to the hospital in life-threatening condition," says Bujeda.
Police spent much of the overnight combing the area looking for the shooter -- about a dozen police cruisers were outside the apartment complex where the shooting happened, and a JSO helicopter was circling the area trying to find the gunman.
