Tuesday Update: The Clay County Sheriff's Office says they've heard from the Medicale Examiner in Jacksonville.  They've confirmed that the cause of death was blunt force trauma to Dede Etey's head.

4:30 p.m. UPDATE: Clay County Sheriff's Office have identified Dede Etey, 46, as the woman murdered in Orange Park on Monday morning.

Police suspect her son Teyi Lawson, 23, in her murder.  He's in police custody right now and will be booked into Clay County Jail Monday evening on one charge of murder.

Etey's husband and her adult daugther met with detectives Monday afternoon.  Both live in the home at 263 Edson Drive, but neither were home at the time of the murder.  Police say there is no crime-related call history at the home, and they believe the family has resided there for nine years.

Lawson will make his first appearance tomorrow morning at 8 a.m. at the Clay County Courthouse in Green Cove Springs.

Original report: A Clay County woman is murdered and her adult son is in police custody.

"It appears there was some type of physical altercation between the mother and the son here at the residence, which resulted in her death," said Sgt. Wayne McKinney with the Clay County Sheriff's Office.

He said police received two 9-1-1 calls around 11:20 a.m. Monday morning from inside the home.  They were unable to determine if the calls came from the mother or the son.  Police responded to the 200 block of Edson Drive just off of Blanding Blvd. in Orange Park.

They found a woman dead in the side yard, and the only other person home was her adult son.

"We're still trying to sort through....we do have the son in custody at this point," McKinney said.

He said the son was treated for minor injuries at Orange Park Medical Center and then he'll be held in Clay County Jail.
