Jacksonville pilot found dead by his wife

By Rich Jones, AP

Jacksonville, FL —

A Jacksonville woman finds her husband's body in the wreckage of an ultra-light aircraft on his Bradford County property
after he didn't return from a weekend trip.

Captain Brad Smith of the Bradford County Sheriff's Office says the body of the 53-year-old man was found about 9 p.m. Sunday.  The man's name has not been released.

Smith says the woman went looking for him when he didn't return home and found the plane, which had fabric wings, a small frame and a single motor, near the end of a grass runway.

It's not clear when the crash occurred.  They say the man kept small aircraft on the property and used it as a place to work on them.
