Jags to play 49ers in London

By Tiffany Griffith

Jacksonville, FL —

The Jaguars announced Thursday in London that they will be playing the San Francisco 49ers in October of next season as part of a global reach for the Jaguars brand.  The announcement came down before the sun came up Thursday morning in the United States due to the five hour time difference.

"Stir up some interest in our games over there over the next four years," says Dan Edwards, the Senior VP of Communications.

But, that's not the only thing on the team owner's agenda.

Owner Shad Khan, Team President Mark Lamping, and Place Kicker Josh Scobee are also across the pond to sell Jacksonville to British business owners.

"That is apart of Mr. Khan's vision. Using the exposure with these international games to help bring attention to Jacksonville," says Edwards. He says they're looking for companies similar to the ones that are already homebased here in Jacksonville.

Khan is also a featured speaker at the Leaders Sport Summit in London, a gathering for sport executives.
