JSO continues to search the Southside for Lonzie Barton

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office enters day-four for the search of Lonzie Barton. After they received several tips, dive teams are back out for the second day searching retention ponds near 295 and Philips Highway on the Southside.

The focus will remain in that area until tips lead to a different location or until there's nowhere else to search and no more unanswered questions, police said.

JSO says they’ve been able to eliminate certain areas but the information they’ve gathered so far leaves them to believe this is more of a “recover” than “rescue” effort.
JSO Chief Tom Hackney says the mother’s boyfriend, William Ruben Ebron, is the key to solving the case, but he’s refusing to cooperate with police.
“I know that he knows. He knows that he knows, and he doesn't help,” Hackney said.
Right now, Chief Hackney says they are gathering evidence and facts toward building a murder investigation case against Ebron.
So far, more than 120 tips have poured in nationwide.
Police are asking anyone with information regarding the vehicle and its whereabouts Friday night into Saturday morning, to call JSO at 904-630-0500
