JACKSONVILLE, FLA. —

Jacksonville Sheriff's Office are looking an unknown suspect who allegedly broke into a car, stole money and made gift card purchases.

On Saturday, June 23, 2012 between 6:00 p.m. and 7:08 p.m. a vehicle burglary occurred at Planet Fitness located at 8661 S. Old Kings Rd. in the parking lot.

The window was shattered and a wallet was stolen from the vehicle.  Immediately after the incident, an unknown suspect went into the CVS located at 6005 St. Augustine Rd. and got out of a small Chevrolet SUV type vehicle.  Once inside, the unknown suspect purchased a $200 American Express gift card with the victim’s stolen credit card.  The suspect left the CVS store and went to Publix located at 2875 University Blvd. and purchased two Best Buy $100 gift cards.

At this time, we are seeing a trend of vehicles being broken into at gyms and fitness centers.  People tend to leave their wallets, purses, and valuables inside the vehicle while they go inside to work out.  This makes it a target rich environment for the burglar.

Anyone with any information about the identity or location of the suspect or vehicle is asked to contact the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office at 904-630-0500 or email us at JSOCrimeTips@jaxsheriff.org. To remain anonymous and receive a possible reward, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS.
