Local restaurants worried about Jags changes

By Alyssa Spirato

Jacksonville, FL —

With the Jags getting a major facelift, some local restaurants surrounding the stadium say they're worried about their business if the Jags ever decided to uproot.

“I purchased this space and were here planning to be here for the long haul. The long haul may not be so long,” says Chef/Owner of Olio restaurant, Greg Desanto.

His restaurant is on Bay Street just blocks away from the stadium. He told WOKV he’s concerned with all the changes going on at Everbank Field.

“I’m very concerned. The jaguars are a big draw and we’re really close to the stadium. Coupled with the courthouse moving, I mean, it kind of scares me,” says Desanto.

Desanto says weekends don't draw too much of a crowd, but says jags games draw in business.

“There would definitely be some more lucrative positions this restaurant could be situated in downtown if the stadium ends up not being used,” says Desanto.
