A Jacksonville jury has sentenced a man convicted of shooting his nephew during a New Year’s Day birthday party to 23 years in prison.
The State Attorney’s Office says Leephor Spivey had an argument with his nephew, Bryan Williams, at the family celebration at the beginning of 2012. He shot Williams three times, and the nephew then spent two months in the hospital because of his injuries.
Spivey already had felony convictions for DUI and Aggravated Assault. He was sentenced for Attempted Manslaughter with a Weapon and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
