Man who prompted Flagler County school lockdowns is now in custody
Flagler County, FL —
A Palm Coast man is in custody after forcing the lockdown of multiple Flagler County schools.
The Flagler County Sheriff’s Office says 20-year-old William Hofer posted threats against Matanzas High School students on his Facebook page. Matanzas High School, Flagler Palm Coast High School and Daytona State College all received heightened security through the day Wednesday as a result of the threats.
Hofer posted that he had recently lost a “brother”, which detectives determined actually referred to a friend who was killed in a Putnam County home invasion within the last week. He also apparently made references to weapons or harming himself.
Hofer has been charged with issuing written threats to kill or do bodily harm. He was found outside a home on John Anderson Highway in Flagler Beach.
Hofer is a 2011 graduate of Flagler Palm Coast High School and former DSC student.
