Jacksonville, FL —

Mayor Alvin Brown says although the NFL team has been sold to Illinois businessman Shahid Khan, he remains optimistic  and confident that the Jaguars will remain in Jacksonville for many years to come.

“Well I think the key is, our city is a great city for the franchise. It’s gonna be here. I’m going to provide the same kind of commitment and work hard,” says Mayor Brown.

He also continued on to say that Wayne Weaver and his family did the right thing by selling a buyer that wanted to remain in Jacksonville.

“It has its roots here. This was its beginning, and I think the owners would understand that,” Brown replied.

Mayor Brown also said that he will support the new owner, and thinks the community will too.

“How the community’s going to respond, I think it’s going to be favorable,” says Mayor Brown.

He also says he will continue to support the new owner and the Jaguars organization.
