After Tuesday night’s City Council budget meeting, more than 30 city workers are left without jobs. So this may have you wondering, what’s next for the City of Jacksonville?
“ The goal is to operate more effectively and efficiently, and I’m going through that process now,” says Mayor Brown on his plans to move forward. The Mayor says he wants to focus on one thing at a time and put Jacksonville back to work.
As for Mayor Brown’s next step, he says his focus is now on reform, and it’s a process that he is working very closely on. “We have to balance the budget, we’ve done that. I said we are going to do a reform, we’re working on that,” says Mayor Brown.
“It’s not about the individual, it’s about the institution,” says Mayor Brown when asking about the recent increase involving city worker layoffs. “We have to be realistic about the challenges we face, but I’m very optimistic about our opportunity. And this is the first phase,” says Mayor Brown.
As for the reform plan, the Mayor says he plans to have that reform plan to City Council in several weeks.
