The mother of 20-year-old Shelby Farah says she was heartbroken after arriving at the Metropcs store on Jacksonville's Northside only to discover her daughter's memorial had been tossed out.
Darlene Farah says she received several text messages from friends who said they were outraged when Shelby's memorial was no longer outside of the store. Farah is blaming store managment. She claims they scooped up photos, cards, candles and other items and tossed them into a nearby dumpster.
"They took it and put it in trashbags and threw it into the dumpster."
Farah says she didn't take it too well and was sad the memorial was discarded.
"My daughter is not a piece of trash. I took it that it was all about money for them."
WOKV reached out to the Metropcs store to inquire if this was true and if they were the ones responsible for tossing the items into the trash. A store employee said they were not able to confirm this nor speak about the incident.
The store reopened Monday.
Shelby's mom says she has since made another memorial in honor of her daughter's life.
