Jacksonville, FL —

The mother of the baby abandoned at a Jacksonville apartment last week has been arrested.

Jacksonville police were sent to the Huntington Apartments at 3333 Monument Road last Wednesday where a baby had been left in front of a vacant apartment wrapped only in a towel.  It was just a few hours old at the time it was found.

15-year-old Amber Aundriana Collins has been arrested for child neglect, a felony charge.  We are getting more information about this case and will continue to update you as the story develops.

JSO also wants to make sure you know about Florida’s Safe Haven Law, where a child 7 days old or younger can be left at a hospital, emergency medical services station or a fire station without any recourse.
