A motorcyclist is fighting for his life after an apparent hit and run crash involving a truck on the westside.
The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says the crash happened on Youngerman Circle, just off Blanding Boulevard around midnight Monday. Police say the truck driver was traveling in the eastbound lane, attempting to make a left hand turn into Buffalo's Cafe. As he did so, the motorcycle's driver, Ronald M. Gilmore, struck the front of the truck as he traveled westbound in the outside lane. The truck driver backed his vehicle into the road and drove off without helping Gilmore.
Police are searching for a 2002 Dodge Dakota with a 4 door cab, possibly white. Police say there should be damage to the front driver's side, around the lights and front tire.
Gilmore was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
He's now in critical condition at Shands Medical Center.
