The Northeast Florida chapter of the American Red Cross is dispatching volunteers all along the east coast to help in the Irene relief efforts.
Regional Director Jack Morgan was scheduled to leave for northern New Jersey on Monday, but his flight was cancelled. He'll head out Tuesday instead.
"My role wil be to go up and assist with management operations," says Morgan, "and also keeping the teams together as we look at raising money to support this operation, which most people understand now is going to be in the billions."
Morgan says the biggest concern right now, outside of providing food, water, and shelter where they can, is getting the damage assessment done, especially in areas like New Jersey and Vermont where flooding was rampant.
