New law brings charges following Middleburg house party death

By Matt Augustine

Jacksonville, FL —

Five Middleburg residents face alcohol-related charges in the hit-and-run death of a 19-year-old girl who was killed walking home from a house party in June.

Newly passed legislation in Florida makes it a crime to host an open house party and serve booze to minors.

20-year-olds Amber Campbell and Jacob Hicks both faces charges under that law.  Three other people are  also charged afer 19-year-old Hollee Krueger was hit and killed while walking home along Alligator Boulevard from a party that police say Hicks and Campbell hosted.

The charges are second degree misdemeanors and carry up to 60 days in jail and a $500 fine.

18-year-old Zachary Maxwell is charged with hitting Krueger early on the morning of June 3rd.

Florida Highway Patrol reports Krueger's BAC was .16, nearly twice the legal limit had she been driving.
