No injuries in Northside SWAT standoff

By Gene Wexler

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. —

A man who fired several shots into the roof of his home is now in custody after an early morning SWAT Team standoff.

It happened at his home on Shellcracker Rd. in Black Hammock Island around 12:30 a.m.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, and argument broke out between a woman and her boyfriend, both believed to be in their 30s.  The man allegedly fired a couple of rounds into the ceiling.

The woman escaped from the house and called police.  She says her boyfriend was being violent and threatening to commit suicide.

Meanwhile, the boyfriend had fallen asleep by the time SWAT arrived.  He woke up in the morning, noticed the police outside and surrendered without incident.

No one was injured and he's now in custody.
