Jacksonville, FL —

One man is dead and a woman is in the hospital while the search for at least two shooters is on.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office was called to 6th Street- not far from Myrtle Avenue and Kings Road in Northwest Jacksonville- Tuesday afternoon to reports of a shooting. They learned a man and woman were in a car when at least two people outside of the car shot at them over the span of 1-2 blocks.

“We do have different types of shell casings that’s why I believe there were multiple people,” says JSO Sergeant Michael Paul.

How many shots were fired, whether the people in the car fired back and the motive behind the shooting is all unclear at this time. Paul also says not many witnesses are coming forward, and those that do just report hearing something or seeing people run away.

“We haven’t spoken to anyone who’s given us a real good suspect description at this time,” he says.

The woman is in stable condition but the man died from his injuries.

If you have any information about this shooting you’re asked to call Crime Stopper or JSO’s Homicide Unit.
