St. Augustine, FL —
For the second time in less than a week, the senior class of Pedro Menendez High School is dealing with loss.
18-year-old Jerad Revels died this morning when a tractor he was driving overturned on top of him. 19-year-old Ryan Ford was killed during a fight at a Friday night bonfire in Mandarin.
“Pedro Menendez has been rocked with tragedy this week,” says St. Johns County Public Schools Community Relations Director Christina Langston.
She says the school’s principal recorded a message that was sent to families of the school’s students this morning to talk about the resources available following today’s accident.
“The concern and well-being of all those affected by these tragedies is paramount and our schools are really an extension of the community,” she says.
She says there is a crisis team at the school, including grief counselors. They will remain at the school campus as long as their services are needed.
