Not a bad word to say about this year’s Players’ Championship…
"I had a great time, the tournament was run like a championship," says fan Vicki Robinson, who says she and her family have been coming to the tournament since 1977.
This year’s Players Championship lived up to the hype. Tournament director Matt Rapp says the focus now is to keep making it better in every and any way they can. He says he has pages of notes to go over all containing new ideas for next year's tourney.
"This tournament is built around the fans, so we want to have more fans out here," Rapp says.
The fans say they couldn’t find anything to complain about this year with traffic better than normal and the fan experience improved. Debbie Browning says she’s also been coming since 1977 and wanted to give special thanks to everyone who helped.
*We need to shout out for all the volunteers because they did a great job," says Browning.
Matt Rapp tells me Saturday’s crowd of over 45,000 was a tournament record.
"We're crushing records left, right, and sideways, which is fantastic," says Rapp.
Tiger Woods held on to a 2 stroke lead at the end to finish -13 for the tournament and two strokes ahead of runners up Kevin Streelman, Jeff Maggert, and Jacksonville Beach resident David Lingmerth.
