Authorities believe a body found in the woods in Levy County may belong to a missing University of Florida student.
18-year-old Cristian Aguilar's father Carlos addressed the media Saturday not long after two hunters called police to tell them about human remains they found while out looking for firewood. Police say the shoes and clothes match the description of what Aguilar was wearing the day he went missing, but they still have to identify the body through forensic testing.
"We as a family believe that Cristian has been found and that our prayers have been heard. We want to wait until the authorities confirm it," said Carlos Aguilar in a press conference.
Carlos Aguilar also thanked all the volunteers and law enforcement officials who had spent their time searching the woods for Cristian.
Aguilar was last seen September 20th with his friend, Pedro Bravo, at a Best Buy. Bravo has been charged with Aguilar's kidnap and murder. He admitted that he and Cristian had been fighting over a girl and that he had beaten him unconscious and left him somewhere.
