Jacksonville police have determined no abduction occured at Ribault Middle School this afternoon.
An officer at the scene tells WOKV a woman told police she saw a friend abducted Tuesday. We don't know the age of that person. A helicopter began searching the area overhead as part of the investigation.
Police now tell us there was no abduction. According to investigators the call was a hoax by a middle school student who cut school and did not want her parents to know. JSO says they conducted a thorough investigation and determined it was not a "bona fide" abduction.
Earlier, they had issued notice to look for a possible brown Cadillac with large rims driven by a black male with dredlock style hair and a black male passenger with shorter dredlock hair and a black shirt. It is unclear if these people are connected to the investigation.
Marsha Oliver, spokesperson for the Duval County Public Schools, says the school is currently hosting the Superintendent Summer Learning Academy, which she describes as an enrichment program.
