Police searching for man who assaulted UF student

By Matt Augustine

GAINESVILLE, Fla. —

Police are after a man they say assaulted a University of Florida student Friday evening.

The student was reportedly walking to her car on Southwest Fifth Avenue around 10 p.m. when a man in a black ski mask jumped into her car, held her at knifepoint, and tried to sexually assault her after forcing her to remove her clothes.

The student faked an asthma attack, and the assailant made off with the victim's purse.  Police say he got on to a small BMX bike at Southwest Sixth Avenue and head east.

The suspect is described as a 5'9" black male in his twenties, and spoke in a raspy voice.  He was wearing a brown t-shirt and shorts at the time of the attack.

Police say the man's description matches that raped a UF student last month.
