Prep info for individual counties

NORTHEAST FL. —

As Northeast Florida prepares for the heaviest rainfall of Tropical Storm Beryl, individual counties are working to prepare:

ST. JOHN’S COUNTY:

-Beaches closed to vehicles
-Waters are open, but all swimmers are encouraged to stay out
-Trash pickup is on-schedule as of now

12/27 Update:

-No tropical storm warning in effect
-
Under Flood Watch from State Road 16 North
-High risk of rip currents
-EOC at a Level 3
-No local state of emergency planned
-St. Augustine pier is OPEN
-Citizens encouraged to stay out of water
-Garbage collection will take place as normal

NASSAU COUNTY:

-Shave Bridge at Amelia Island is still OPEN
-The bridge will be closed is sustained winds exceed 45 mph
-They aren’t anticipating an evacuation and haven’t opened any shelters yet
-If needed, they will open a shelter for those with an electric medical device. Call 904-548-5538 if you have one
-Garbage pickup for Monday will continue as planned as of now

BAKER COUNTY:

-Emergency management hopeful they won’t have to issue an evacuation, but they’re prepared to open up shelters if needed
-Residents encouraged to pay attention to the news and look out for any warnings that may be issued
-Emergency teams concerned with wind speeds because of risk of ambulances, fire trucks, etc. tipping over

CLAY COUNTY:

-No emergency shelters have been opened, but they’re prepared to open if necessary
-Memorial Day events for tomorrow are cancelled
-Trash pickup will go on ask scheduled

Trash pickup for Duval County has been cancelled. All water activity at the City of Jacksonville Beaches have been halted.  For more specific information on Duval, look for our coverage of the Emergency Operations Center meeting tonight.
