A Jacksonville man will spend the rest of his life in prison for a 2009 shooting.
The State Attorney’s Office says 29-year-old Dontay Lester met up with John Albritton at Club Cash on University Boulevard. They left to buy cigars shortly after meeting and, while driving back to the club, Lester pulled out a gun to rob Albritton. He shot Albritton three times in the chest and once in the arm.
Just days after the shooting, Lester was spotted at Club Cash again and then arrested by Jacksonville Police. At that time, he was wearing jewelry he took from the victim.
Last month, he was convicted of attempted first degree murder, armed robbery, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. Today, he received a life sentence.
