Your representative is continuing to push for legislation in Washington to allow authorization to deepen the harbor at Jaxport.
"The port bill - there's a lot of stuff in there for Jacksonville."
Representative Corrine Brown tells us she's focusing on an amendment to a bill that would green-light a list of dredging projects.
"Get the amendments I need on that bill and get that bill passed so that we can put people to work."
Nancy Rubin, spokeswoman at Jaxport, says the goal is to stay on track with the projects and keep Northeast Florida competitive.
"Keep these projects on track, make them happen and keep us competitive."
The House is set to vote on a bill expanding seaports this week. The Army Corps of Engineers is still reviewing plans to accomodate larger ships by deepening the harbor at Jaxport. Brown is working to amend the bill so Jaxport can qualify for authorization. If not, she says it could delay work for years.
