Putnam County, FL —
New rumors are circulating about the 2009 disappearance of 5-year-old Haleigh Cummings, and the Putnam County Sheriff's Office is attempting to stop those rumors in their tracks.
Investigators say they did follow up on a tip and respond to the southern end of the county on Thursday, but no skeletal remains were found in connection to the little girl's case.
"The Putnam County Sheriff's Office has received numerous inquiries regarding the recovery of the skeletal remains of missing Haleigh Cummings," Major Johnny Greenwood said in a statement. "A rumor has spread throughout our community that her body has been located. This rumor is false, and this information has been vastly misreported and sensationalized."
The loved ones of Haleigh Cummings have not seen her since she disappeared from her father's Satsuma mobile home in the middle of the night in 2009.
