"Rare accident" snaps power pole in half

By Stephanie Brown

Jacksonville, FL —

An unusual accident which sends one person to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

JEA Spokeswoman Gerri Boyce tells WOKV a truck snagged an AT&T line on San Jose Boulevard at San Clerc early this afternoon. Pulling the line snapped the power pole into two pieces.

“For a truck to snag a line and then cause a pole to snap- that is rare,” Boyce says.

The pole fell on to a pick-up truck. A 21-year-old inside was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Boyce says they needed to get a brand new pole to the scene, but she expects all the repairs to wrap up around 1 PM.
