Carnival cruise line is reporting another ship is having difficulty at sea. The Carnival Legend is skipping all of its scheduled stops through the Caribbean and is heading back to the port of Tampa with 2,500 passengers on board. This is the third Carnival cruise ship to experience problems in less than two months. The company announced Thursday passengers aboard the Carnival Dream would be flown home after problems with the ships generators while docked in St. Maarten. A month ago, the Carnival
Triumph gained national attention after a fire knocked out the ship’s engine leaving the ship stranded in the Gulf of Mexico.

Carnival officials released a statement in part about the latest ship facing challenges at sea, “Carnival Legend is experiencing a technical issue with one of the ship's Azipod units that is affecting the vessel's sailing speed”. Right now, the ship is said to be sailing at speeds of 14 miles per hour.

In spite of recent setbacks with Carnival Cruises, local travel agent Scott Lara says cruising out of Jacksonville is still something he recommends to his clients. “Especially here on the first coast, the Carnival Fascination has never had a problem on our ship here.” Lara says although Carnival is facing challenges, he recommends First Coast residences still hop onboard. “Cruise vacations continue to be safe, fun, and affordable. It’s a great way for families to get out there and enjoy a great vacation experience.”
