JACKSONVILLE, Fla. —

Drivers, get ready for a bumpy road starting the week of October 31.

The Florida Department of Transportation says in a release they will begin road resurfacing to Southside Boulevard starting next week.

The project will cover 2.8 miles of Southside Boulevard, from Cargal Street to just north of Atlantic Boulevard, costing taxpayers around $4 million dollars.

WOKV asked a few listeners what they thought of the project, and we got mixed reviews.

“With our budget were having to cut everything else, JSO and all this. But we have money to fix roads,” one listener Ashley Galbraith told WOKV.  She also told us she wants to know where the money comes from. “Four million dollars seems like a really large amount to throw some tar down on the road. I don’t see why it costs so much, I really don’t,” says Galbraith.

But another listener, Steven Palmeter agrees with the project, saying Jacksonville’s infrastructure needs help. “Money to rebuild the road will put more tax dollars into the local, state, and federal governments,” says Palmeter. “Our infrastructure is crumbling in this country. I believe the American Society of Civil Engineers last grade they gave the country was a D-,”says Palmeter when asked about the project.

FDOT says the project should be complete by Summer 2012.
