Before Romney, Floridians steal GOP show Thursday

By Matt Augustine

TAMPA, Fla. —

Florida couldn't have asked for more sunshine in the Thursday night lineup of speakers at the Republican National Convention.  Some of Florida’s biggest political names were the stars of the show leading up to the biggest star of the night, Mitt Romney.

First up was Congressman Connie Mack, who focused his remarks on rejuvenating and reviving the American Dream as we once knew it.

"That's what this election is all about.  Making the American Dream a reality again...we owe it to those who have given so much to regain our strength and remain the strongest force for freedom the world has ever seen."

Mack says this election is not about what was done wrong or about blaming America, but about putting the country back on the path to prosperity.  Former Governor Jeb Bush and Senator Marco Rubio also gave remar.  In between calls to action for the delegates to get out and spread Romney’s message in the coming months Rubio talked about his childhood and restoring the hard-working mindset that his mother and father had that gave him so many opportunities.

"You see he stood behind a bar in the back of the room all those years so one day I could stand behind a podium in the front of the room," Rubio said to thunderous cheers from the crowd.

Rubio called on the delegation to make sure that future generations knew that this generation had done its part by electing Mitt Romney president, so the American miracle could live on for another generation to inherit.
