Sailboat hits jetty on St. Johns River

By Andrew Greenstein

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. —

A sailboat hit a jetty on the river early this morning.

"There were two people on board this 40-foot sailboat," says Coast Guard Petty Officer Lauren Jorgensen.  "The vessel was initially taking on water.  Fortunately, there are no injuries."

Early indications are the sailboat was trying to avoid another boat when it hit the jetty.

The vessel suffered minimal damage.
