School to ditch textbooks for iPads

By Andrew Greenstein

Jacksonville, FL —

One Southside school is throwing away the textbooks.

Starting next fall, University Christian School will be issuing iPads to all its students in grades eight through 12.

One school official notes that it will save the students money in the long run.

Students at the private school already buy their own books, which run them about $700 a year.

Now, they'll spend about $500 on an iPad and between nothing and $15 for each digital textbook.
