School preparedness following Ohio tragedy

By Tiffany Griffith

Jacksonville, FL —

The shocking school shooting in Ohio is putting the spotlight on what we're doing to keep Northeast Florida kids safe.

"Anyone who's been a school administrator always has that awareness and fear, even when you don't think it can't happen here," says Tim Forsen.

Forsen helps oversee the operations in the St. Johns School District. To fight that fear, they have a plan in place, that's updated annually with law enforcement.

"What we do is each and every year during the summer, our principals and school administrators review their plan, and then submit a new safety plan for the coming school year."

He believes it's the same mode of operations for all school districts in Florida.
