Governor Scott said the mayor and the city's emergency response teams worked well together in response to the storm that battered the First Coast.
"The state needs to be ready to be able to help local communities like this and we were," said Governor Scott. "I talked to the mayor quite a bit to make sure I knew what was going on. He knew we were there if he needed us. So, fortunately we didn't have a hurricane this time--just a tropical storm. But we live in a peninsula and we all have to be prepared."
Garbage and recycling collection will resume tomorrow and be pushed back by one day for all residents. If your garbage or recycling is normally scheduled to be picked up on Tuesday, it will be picked up on Wednesday this week and so on.

As storm bands continue to pass through the First Coast, heavy winds, rain and localized flooding may continue to threaten public safety. We are advising residents to stay out of the water and to be safe on the roads, if you have to drive. Do not attempt to drive through standing water. Standing water can be contaminated - avoid direct contact.
Citizens are asked to report ALL storm related damage to 904-630-CITY (2489) - examples include blocked roads; damage to buildings; downed trees; flooding.
