Scott issues $10K challenge to state colleges, universities

By Andrew Greenstein

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. —

Governor Scott issues a challenge to Florida's 28 state colleges and universities.

"I said, 'Can you provide a degree -- a bachelor's degree -- in an area where we know our students can get jobs for $10 thousand or less?'"

Governor Scott appeared on Jacksonville's Morning News, saying it's part of a larger initiative to allow people to afford a quality education so that they can get a job when they finish.

Scott's challenge could be a logistical challenge for the schools -- right now, the average tuition over four years at state colleges and universities runs over $13 thousand.
