Serious injuries from US 17 crash

By WOKV News Team

We’re learned new information about the crash that caused problems for your commute this afternoon.

The Florida Highway Patrol says 27-year-old Shanna Winter was driving northbound on US 17 when, just south of Collins Road, she crossed the median and traveled in to oncoming traffic for reason that has not yet been determined.

Winter’s car was then hit by a pick-up driven by 40-year-old Rachel Clinton, who was traveling southbound on US 17.

Winter is in critical condition.  Her passenger, 35-year-old Taryea Jakes, and Clinton are now in serious condition.

FHP says all parties were wearing seatbelts. An alcohol test on Winter is pending, as are legal charges.
