Jacksonville, FL —

A St. Johns County home is a total loss after a fire.

Fire Rescue Spokesman Matthew Sara says they received multiple 911 calls around 2:30 PM about a home on the 900 block of West King Street.

“Upon their arrival they determined the structure was heavily involved with smoke and fire,” he says.

Firefighters arrived shortly after the calls and put out the fire quickly, but the damage to the home was done.

“Because of the condition it was in when they arrived on scene, I would consider it to be a total loss,” he says.

There was a car in the driveway when the firefighters arrived, so there was initial concern that someone may have been in the home, although Sara says they determined the home was unoccupied at the time of the fire.  The owner was not actually present.

He says the cause of the fire is now under investigation.
