State Attorney concerned about new office

By WOKV News Team

Jacksonville, FL —

Concern over yet another phase of the courthouse project.

State Attorney Angela Corey has sent a letter to Council President Bill Bishop voicing concern over her new office.  The State Attorney’s Office is supposed to be moved to the Old Federal Courthouse, but the project has been delayed for months and the budget is dwindling.

“We find the price for the renovation has increased and the funds available have and continue to decrease, emphasizing the need to encumber what is available today so that the project is not derailed,” Corey says in the letter.

She says the city has been cooperative in giving them information, but increasingly it’s after decisions are made.  Additionally, she claims the office has been left out of some of the talks on what to cut to meet the budget. Our news partner Channel 4 reports the city claims the State Attorney’s Office continues to be part of the negotiations, and that another meeting is scheduled soon.
